The best band I have heard perform live and would you believe it if I told you they were a french band. If Orange Street were at this concert I'm just wondering whether they would be alive now. Probably killed themselves or given up on music all together..which they should do anyways.
Matmatah performed at Saarang on the night of 24th, in front of a meagre audience of about 400 people who sounded like they were close to 4000. They had the audience hypnotized for about a couple of hours. A tribute to them is the fact that after the show when they left the stage the audience just stood there wondering what hit them! These guys had 50 guys jumping wildly(dancing) on stage with them. They had LIFE!! And they played perfect, no screw ups on sound, no sound check, nothing. Just pure great music and we all loved it, loved it so much that I had to tell the world.. Some more info on them.
Matmatah is currently one of the leading rock bands in France. Their first single was sold at more than 8 lakh copies and their first album at more than 6 lakh. They released a fourth album last October.
Their Celtic origins inspired their music. However, all those who really listened to their discs or attended their resounding tours are well aware that their main influences come from English and American rock music of the '70s.
